Graham Allison, who popularized the term "Thucydides's Trap," believes that the leaders of China and the U.S. laid a significant foundation for bilateral communication during their meeting in San Francisco. As neither China nor the United States wants a war, the two sides should, through candid, private and face-to-face communication, eliminate conflict that could be caused by misunderstanding or miscalculation, he said.
