On the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia 2024, Erik Berglöf, the chief economist of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, said emerging market countries face high hurdles in closing the technology gap with developed countries. He did recognize that China tapping into new quality productive forces has pushed innovation, an inspiration for the Global South.
