Contract negotiations between Bayern Munich and their Canadian star Alphonso Davies aren't going well, with the player's agent blasting the club for offering what he termed an "ultimatum."

Davies' current contract with Bayern will expire in the summer of 2025. The Athletic reported in February that he had already reached a verbal agreement with Real Madrid. If Bayern don't sign a new deal with him soon, the Bundesliga powerhouse will have to choose between letting him go for free in one year and watching him leave in a cut-price deal.

According to Bayern's sporting director, Max Eberl, they have already made their offer to Davies. "I can say we made Alphonso a very concrete, appreciative offer," he told Bild last week. "At some point in life, you have to say yes or no."

Nick Huoseh, agent of Davies, responded to Bayern in an interview with Bild as well on Thursday. "It's unfair that Alphonso is now being attacked," he said. "We were close to an agreement a year ago. Then the entire club management was replaced. We didn't hear anything for seven months, although I tried during this time to contact the club myself."

Soon after Bayern won the 2022-23 Bundesliga title, they fired sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic and CEO Oliver Kahn. In late February, the club announced that manager Thomas Tuchel would step down after the 2023-24 campaign. Therefore, Davies and his agent have good reasons to hold doubt for the club and his future in it.

"Now we are being given an ultimatum and are supposed to react within two weeks because the club is under pressure and took a long time to reposition itself in the management? That's not fair," Huoseh said. "It's a very important contract in Alphonso's career, and we're supposed to make the decision without knowing who the coach will be next season or what the team looks like. That's why we think it's unfair to react to the ultimatum."

Transfermarkt.com values Davies at 60 million euros (about $64.7 million) at the moment. His highest value reached 80 million euros (about $86.2 million) in September 2020.
