China's scientific research ship "Discovery One," carrying the manned submersible "Striver," has returned to the tropical coastal city of Sanya, marking the completion of the first joint scientific expedition conducted by China and Indonesia. The joint scientific expedition was conducted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency.

The expedition team set out from Sanya in south China's Hainan Province on February 8 and concluded their 50-day voyage with a deep-sea diving mission into the Java Trench in the Indian Ocean. It was the first large-scale and systematic manned deep-sea exploration conducted in the Java Trench on an international level. According to the team, they successfully dove to a depth of 7,180 meters in the trench, setting the deepest dive record for Indonesia.
