Bianjing Lanterns Zhang are traditional Chinese lanterns noted for their distinctive shapes, vibrant colors and intricate designs. Closely associated with the city of Kaifeng, this centuries-old art has been passed down in the Zhang family and is now preserved by Zhang Juntao. In 2008, this unique craft was recognized as part of China's intangible cultural heritage.
Beyond crafting the lanterns, Zhang Juntao is dedicated to educating others about them. He transformed his ancestral home into the Bianjing Lantern Zhang Museum and regularly visits schools to teach the art of lantern making. His goal is to ensure that future generations can appreciate Bianjing Lanterns Zhang for years to come.
