Blooming cherry blossoms falling to your fingertips, adorable deer frolicking about in a sea of pink petals, and the sounds of Zen music... walking through the Nianhuawan tourist town in Wuxi, east China's Jiangsu Province at night feels like a blur of reality and dreams.

Included in China's first national smart tourism immersive experience new space cultivation pilot list, Nianhuawan has used advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality and drones to create a nocturnal dreamland, offering visitors a relaxed and immersive experience.

The town, where the architecture is in the style of the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties, is part of the Lingshan Buddhist Scenic Spot, thus featuring rich traditional Chinese Zen culture.

Through digitizing traditional Zen culture, the town provides a space where people could take a break from the daily hustle and bustle. Visitors can have hands-on experiences of a variety of items including tea making and copying out Buddhist scriptures. Delicacies and snacks are indispensable. In Buddhism, nianhua, literally meaning "picking up a (lotus) flower," relates to the Flower Sermon story of that faith. The place where Nianhuawan is located resembles a lotus flower, and is a Buddhist spot, thus leading to the small town being named Nianhuawan, with "wan" meaning bay as it is close to Taihu Lake.
