The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade their elite linebacker Haason Reddick to the New York Jets for a conditional 2026 NFL Draft third-round pick, ESPN reported on Friday. If Reddick reaches 67.5 percent of his playing time and posts no fewer than 10 sacks, the Eagles will receive a 2026 second rounder instead.
Having played seven seasons in the league, Reddick tallied more than 10 sacks in each of the past four campaigns and was selected for the Pro Bowl back-to-back in 2022 and 2023 while part of the Eagles. Meanwhile, he made his All-Pro debut in 2022 on the second team as the NFL forced fumbles co-leader (five).
The Eagles in 2022 signed Reddick a three-year, $45 million contract extension, which will expire after the 2024 season. The team reached Super Bowl LVII last season but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Eagles finished the 2023 regular season with an 11-6 record but lost five of their final six games. They were knocked out by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the National Football Conference Wild Card Game.

The Eagles allowed 6.054 yards in total and 356.1 yards per game, both the seventh-most among all 32 teams, during the 2023 regular season. By contrast, the Jets allowed the third-fewest yards both in total (4,969) and per game (292.3). With such incredible defense, the Jets were still hunting for enhancements, which displayed how desperate they were to win before quarterback (QB) Aaron Rodgers's retirement.
As a four-time NFL Most Valuable Player, Rodgers was traded to the Jets by the Green Bay Packers in April 2023, but he injured his left ankle in his first game of the season before being ruled out for the rest of the campaign. The Jets failed to make the playoffs with a 7-10 record.
Meanwhile, though this player was never part of the trade for Reddick, defensive end Bryce Huff parted ways with the Jets as a free agent during the offseason and joined the Eagles on a three-year, $51 million deal. He (25) is four years younger than Reddick (29).
