The Oklahoma State Patrol announced the closure of a highway south of Sallisaw after a barge collided with a bridge over the Arkansas River on March 30.
Troopers shut down South U.S. Highway 59 following the incident and diverted traffic away from the area, according to the state patrol's social media posts. The announcement came as engineers were engaged in lifting a section of twisted steel from the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge in Maryland on March 30, after it fell into the Patapsco River due to a massive cargo ship striking one of its main supports.
