The water level of Baiyangdian Lake has been declining since the 1950s. The lake even experienced dry spells from time to time. Many people dependent on the lake for a living chose to leave the area because of these conditions. 

This video tells the story of a family that migrated from Baiyangdian Lake to Wuliangsu Lake in the early 1960s. Although Xin Liu, the youngest son of the family was not born in Baiyangdian, he became a fisherman like his father, and the greatest wish of his mother is to return to her hometown. And this wish is about to come true as the water level is rising again in Baiyangdian after the establishment of Xiongan New Area.
