China plans to complete the greening of 100 million mu (6.7 million hectares) of land in 2024, according to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.

Currently, spring afforestation is being organized across the country, and projects for ecosystem protection and restoration are being promoted based on local conditions.

The government of Xiangcheng City in central China's Henan Province is going to plant more than 2 million trees across the city's streets and its villages.

By the end of March, about 1 million hectares of forest had been planted nationwide, according to the administration. Among them, Hunan, Hubei and Guizhou provinces have completed afforestation of more than over 133,000 hectares.

In the past decade, China has completed the greening area of 112 million hectares, the forest area has reached 231 million hectares, and the forest coverage rate has exceeded 24 percent. The forest area and stock volume have both increased for many consecutive years.

The preserved plantation area reached 87.6 million hectares, ranking first in the world. In the past decade, China's new plantation area accounted for more than a quarter of the world's, making it the fastest-growing country in terms of forest resources.
