A magnitude-7.3 earthquake hit the waters off Hualien County, China's Taiwan region, at 7:58 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by a magnitude-6.0 earthquake at 8:11 a.m., according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC). The first earthquake struck at a depth of 12 kilometers, the center added.
