- 10 people died, and over 900 sustained injuries after a magnitude-7.3 earthquake hit Hualien County in China's Taiwan region on Wednesday morning, local media reported.
- The quake struck the waters off Hualien at 7:58 a.m. at a depth of 12 kilometers, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
- The quake was followed by aftershocks, with CENC reporting two quakes measuring 6 and 5.9, respectively, within around 40 minutes.
- As of 6:01 p.m. on Wednesday, 167 aftershocks have occurred in the Taiwan region, 14 of which measured a magnitude of 5 or above.
