President of the Federated States of Micronesia Wesley W. Simina will pay a state visit to China from April 5 to 12 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Wednesday.
Detailing the visit at a regular press briefing, Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson for the ministry, said the leaders of the two countries will have an in-depth exchange of views on the development of bilateral relations and issues of common concern.
Since diplomatic relations were established 35 years ago, the relationship between China and the Federated States of Micronesia has made great progress, Wang said, adding that practical cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results, benefiting the two peoples and promoting regional peace, stability and development.
Taking this visit as an opportunity, China is willing to work with Micronesia to enhance political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation and expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges to push for further development of bilateral relation, he said.
