China to host 2024 IFSC Sport Climbing World Cups in April

The 2024 International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup will be held in east China's Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces respectively in April.

The IFSC World Cup between April 8 and 10 will be held in Keqiao, near Shaoxing in Zhejiang, followed by another event from April 11 to 14 in Wujiang, near Suzhou, in Jiangsu.

A total of 136 sport climbing athletes from 33 countries and regions are set to compete in the Keqiao event at the Yangshan Climbing Center, the same venue that hosted the climbing event during the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2023.

Host nation China will be represented by 13 athletes, including Zhang Yueting, who has already secured a spot at the Paris Olympics, Luo Zilu, who is actively vying for Olympic qualification, and Chen Xuanzhen, who was crowned in the women's Bouldering and Lead categories at the 2023 Asian Youth Climbing Championships.

International notable participants include Tokyo Olympics women's all-round champion Janja Garnbret of Slovenia, and Hangzhou Asian Games men's combined champion Aruto Anraku of Japan.

The Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifier Series, including sport climbing, will take place in Shanghai between May 15 and 19, and in Budapest, Hungary, from June 19 to 23.
