The Athletics will play at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, California, for at least three years after leaving Oakland for Las Vegas, Nevada, the team announced on Thursday.
The team agreed to a three-year lease with Sacramento and will share the ballpark with the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A team, the Sacramento River Cats. The deal includes an option for one-year extension if the Athletics' new ball park on the Las Vegas Strip is not completed to work for the 2028 season.
"I just want to say we're excited to be here for the next three years," John Fisher, owner of the Athletics said at an outdoor press conference. "Playing in this beautiful ballpark but also to be able to watch some of the greatest players in baseball, whether they be Athletics players or Aaron Judge and others launch home runs out of this very intimate, most intimate ballpark in major league baseball next three years."

According to ESPN, Fisher's remarks were pre-prepared and shorter than two minutes, nor did he take any questions. Dave Kaval, president of the Athletics, informed Leigh Hanson, Oakland's chief of staff, the decision on a phone call early in the morning. Soon after that, Fisher relayed the news to Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao before announcing it on social media platform.
The Athletics will not add a city name to its branding during their time in Sacramento, per their deal with the city. They have played 56 years in Oakland and won four World Series titles during that time.
"Oakland offered a deal that was fair to the A's and was fiscally responsible for our city," Thao said in a statement. "We wish the A's the best and will continue our conversations with them on facilitating the sale of their share of the Coliseum site. The City of Oakland will now focus on advancing redevelopment efforts at the Coliseum."
