China has managed to transform a very large crude carrier (VLCC) into a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel in 27 months, breaking a world record. On Wednesday, a ceremony was held in a shipyard of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Shanghai) on Changxing Island to name the modified vessel Maria Quiteria. The vessel, with a length of 333.3 meters, a width of 58 meters and a depth of 31.25 meters, features a production capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil per day and a storage capacity of 1 million barrels.
