Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region saw its tourism revenue during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday increase by 62.33 percent to nearly 2.2 billion yuan (about $310 million), according to official data.

The region received 2.21 million tourists, with a year-on-year growth of 20.53 percent, data from the regional culture and tourism department showed.

During the holiday, Xinjiang introduced a variety of cultural and tourism events, employing diverse and innovative approaches, which include combining sightseeing with local customs, sports and fruit-picking activities, all aimed at attracting tourists to the region.

From April to June, various prefectures will organize over 300 cultural and tourism activities, the regional culture and tourism department said, noting that more than 80 preferential policies such as reduced admission fees to scenic spots and discounts on dining and accommodation, will also be rolled out.

These measures aim to further stimulate cultural and tourism consumption, igniting vitality in the region's cultural and tourism market.
