Twelve people were killed and two others injured in a fatal crash involving three vehicles on a highway in the Indonesian province of West Java on Monday, police said.

According to the preliminary report, the accident occurred on a highway in Karawang regency when a minibus with nine people on board was about to pull over on the road shoulder, but was suddenly hit by a bus behind.

The bus was also hit by another minibus behind, said Wirdhanto Hadicaksono, Karawang police chief, adding that the two minibuses were on fire after the crash.
