Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held talks with French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Franck Riester in Paris on Monday, exchanging views on issues related to bilateral economic and trade relations.

Following 60 years of diplomatic relations between China and France, the scale and quality of the two countries’ economic and trade cooperation have been continuously improved, said Wang.

The Chinese government is promoting high-quality development, accelerating the development of new quality productive forces, and actively creating a level playing field for both domestic and foreign enterprises, which will provide greater market opportunities for French and other European enterprises, he said.

Riester responded that France supports free trade, and is willing to listen to the demands of Chinese companies in France and is committed to creating a level playing field for them.

Wang also met with a host of French multinational entrepreneurs during his visit to Paris. During the meetings, he said that openness is a distinctive symbol of contemporary China. The Chinese government is committed to improving the business environment and providing service guarantee for the investment and operation of foreign enterprises, he added.

Meanwhile, French companies said they are firmly optimistic about China's economic prospects and business environment, and will remain committed to long-term development in China.
