The United Nations Security Council could conclude Palestine's request for admission to the UN in the coming weeks. On Monday, the council referred the application to a special committee for consideration in accordance with UN rules. Earlier this month, the Palestinians wrote to the Secretary General, requesting to be recognized as a full member.
