The People's Republic of China welcomes the Federated States of Micronesia to join in the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and is willing to work with Micronesia to expand practical cooperation in areas including fishery, infrastructure, tropical planting, aviation and maritime transportation, and green and low-carbon development, according to a joint statement issued by the two countries on Wednesday.
The two sides agreed to expand exchanges and cooperation in fields such as education, health, human resources, tourism, and media, the statement said.
It added that the Chinese side welcomes more competitive specialty products from Micronesia to enter the Chinese market, including encouraging new products, such as fish products, under positive market access arrangements.
Pledging to promote multilateralism and international cooperation, both sides agreed to carry out cooperation under the frameworks of the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative to further promote humanity's shared values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom, it said.
