Japan temporarily closes its embassy in Haiti

The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday that the country had temporarily closed its embassy in Haiti, in response to the "deteriorating security situation" there.

In a statement, the ministry added that a temporary office was set up in the Dominican Republic to provide protection services for Japanese nationals in Haiti.
