This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France and the Franco-Chinese Year of Cultural Tourism, said Fan.

He said the French Film Week, jointly hosted by CMG and the Beijing Municipal People's Government, is an innovative measure to promote mutual learning among civilizations on a vessel of motion pictures.

"The Magic of the Kite" in 1958 was the first children's feature film co-produced by China and France. The documentary brought alive a story of Sino-French friendship 60 years ago revolving around kites.

The 14th BJIFF – French Film Week will be held from April 18 to 26. Thirty French films in various genres, including this year's Tiantan Award shortlisted film "A Real Job," will be screened in multiple cinemas in Beijing.
