A dragon-shaped ornament from the early Hongshan culture, an important part of the Neolithic Age dating back 5,000 to 6,500 years ago, has been restored with the help of digital technologies. At approximately 20 centimeters in length, the dragon-shaped artifact was discovered at Caitaopo archaeological site. After conducting several virtual assemblies on 3D models, researchers spent months restoring the ornament. Putting the pieces together was challenging, as there were no references to consult. The crucial breakthrough came when the researchers discovered a scratch on the ornament during the manual assembly.
