More than 98,000 people have been evacuated due to floods in Kazakhstan, the country's Emergencies Ministry said on Thursday.
A spokesperson for the ministry said it was closely monitoring the situation in the North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions, which were at risk of further flooding.
More than 6,000 people were also evacuated in Russia's Kurgan region, according to local authorities. The flood in Russia's city of Orenburg is expected to peak on Thursday and peak in the Tobol and Ishim rivers by April 23–25, the authorities said.
