27 Chinese nationals were safely evacuated from Haiti to the neighboring Dominican Republic on April 11 as gang violence escalated in the Caribbean island country.
This is the second batch of Chinese evacuated from violence-ravaged Haiti. The first batch of 24 left on March 22 with the help of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in the Dominican Republic. The Chinese nationals arrived in the border city of Jimani of the Dominican Republic and were received by the Chinese Ambassador to the country, Chen Luning.
