China-Laos Railway marks one year of cross-border passenger service

Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of the launch of cross-border passenger service on the China-Laos Railway. This milestone marks the inauguration of a new train route linking China's Xishuangbanna with Laos' Luang Prabang, both renowned tourist destinations.

The China-Laos Railway, connecting southwest China's Kunming with the capital city of Laos, Vientiane, commenced operations on December 3, 2021, and the cross-border passenger service was inaugurated on April 13, 2023. As of late March, approximately 180,000 international passenger trips have been recorded, drawing travelers from 87 countries and regions.
