China, Suriname issue joint press communique calling for enhanced cooperation

The People's Republic of China and the Republic of Suriname issued a joint press communique on Friday.

On the basis of the cooperation plan on jointly promoting Belt and Road cooperation signed by the two governments in 2019, the two sides strive to enhance synergy of development strategies based on their respective comparative advantages and development needs, and actively promote cooperation in various fields of interest to achieve more practical outcomes, the communique noted.

The two sides agree to continue to enhance development cooperation, said the communique, adding that the Chinese side stands ready to provide support within its capacity for Suriname's efforts to develop its economy and improve people's livelihood, and continue to provide Suriname with necessary assistance through bilateral and multilateral channels for development financing.

The two sides agree to step up cooperation in such areas as digital economy, green development, blue economy, energy minerals, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, finance, science and technology, education, culture, sports and poverty alleviation to realize development and progress of both sides, it said.
