Fu Cong appointed China's permanent representative to the UN

Fu Cong has been appointed as China's new permanent representative to the United Nations, according to the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).

Meeting with Fu on Friday, Chairman of the CIDCA Luo Zhaohui congratulated Fu on assuming his new post.

The CIDCA is making efforts to implement the Global Development Initiative (GDI), and promote the upgrading of traditional foreign aid and international development cooperation, said Luo, calling for strengthening connectivity and collaboration with the Permanent Mission of China to the UN to advance governance of international development and cooperation.

Fu said the mission will continue to build the Group of Friends of the GDI and provide full support and cooperation in the implementation of the initiative.

Fu was the Chinese ambassador to the European Union.
