Both Bayern Munich and the French national team suffered from bad news as Kingsley Coman exited the Bundesliga game against Cologne at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, on Saturday.

Coman was substituted by Jamal Musiala in the 50th minute and was helped off the field. Bayern later announced that he suffered an injury in his right adductor muscle and will be sidelined for several weeks. That means for sure that he will not appear in the second-leg game of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals against Arsenal at home on April 17.

"We hope it won't be counted in months. We'll see what the test says but we'll expect him not to be available for several weeks," Bayern's Sporting Director Christoph Freund said of Coman's condition after Saturday's game.

Both of Bayern's goals were scored in the second half, one by Raphael Guerreiro in the 65th minute and the other by Thomas Muller in the 93rd minute.

"It's a big downer which overshadows the victory a little," Bayern's Manager Thomas Tuchel said at the post-game press conference.

"Kingsley's injury is of course very bitter and overshadows a lot of things today," Matthijs de Ligt added. "On Wednesday we need the whole package: an extremely good defensive performance, phases where we have the confidence to press high and also good possession of the ball. We need a complete performance, a bit of luck, form on the day and the fans so that the home advantage hopefully becomes decisive."

One other thing will overshadow Bayern's win on Saturday is that Leverkusen are likely to end Bayern's 11-consecutive-season dominance of Bundesliga if they beat Werder Bremen at BayArena in Leverkusen, Germany, on Sunday. Leverkusen will be 16 points ahead of Bayern if they win and there is no way to beat that lead in five games.

When Freund said he hopes Coman's absence won't be counted in months, the French national team must have the same wish because this year's UEFA European Championship is only two months away. France are in Group D with the Netherlands, Poland and Austria. Their first game will be against Austria on June 17.
