Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz arrived in China on Sunday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang. The visit is expected to inject new momentum into the positive trajectory of bilateral relations.

China and Germany have benefited from each other's development and win-win cooperation. China has been Germany's most important trading partner for eight years in a row, and over 5,000 German companies are operating in China.

Direct investment from Germany to China reached a record high of 11.9 billion euros ($12.7 billion) in 2023, increasing 4.3 percent year on year, according to the German Economic Institute.

China has temporarily carried out visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders from Germany for the purposes of business, tourism and visiting relatives and friends in a bid to give a boost to post-pandemic tourism.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Germany comprehensive strategic partnership. China and Germany, as the world's second-largest economy and the EU's largest economy respectively, will jointly inject momentum into global economic recovery.
