Australian police said they arrested a man on Monday following reports that "a number of people were stabbed" in western Sydney, just two days after a deadly knife stabbing in Sydney's shopping mall.
Local media said a priest was attacked during a live service at a church.
The victims suffered "non-life-threatening injuries" and were being treated by ambulance crews, police said.
