China's top legislature schedules upcoming standing committee session

The Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) will hold its ninth session in Beijing from April 23 to 26.

The decision, announced on Tuesday, was made during a meeting of the Council of Chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee, which was presided over by Zhao Leji, chairman of the standing committee.

According to the proposed agenda, lawmakers will review a draft law on academic degrees and another draft law on tariffs.

In addition, they will also review bills on draft laws concerning energy, draft revisions to laws on national defense education and anti-money laundering, and draft amendments to the accounting law, the statistics law and three laws regarding issues related to the popularization of agricultural technology.

A bill on a draft decision authorizing the State Council to temporarily adjust the application of the food safety law in Hainan Free Trade Port will also be reviewed.

Bills concerning two treaties on judicial assistance in criminal affairs between China and Mauritius and between China and Nepal, as well as two extradition treaties respectively between China and Senegal and between China and Greece, will be on the table at the session.
