At least 18 leftist insurgents, better known as Naxals, were killed in a fierce gunfight with government forces on Tuesday in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said.
Currently, Naxals are active across central and eastern parts of India. The insurgency has claimed hundreds of lives.
