The toll from a Russian missile strike on the Ukrainian city of Chernigiv has risen to eight dead and 18 wounded, the mayor announced on Wednesday.

"There are eight dead and 18 injured as a result of the Russian missile strikes on Chernigiv. The search and rescue operation continues," Mayor Oleksandr Lomako said on social media.

There was no immediate comment from Russia yet.
