This year marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Bahrain.

Since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1989, friendly relations and cooperation between China and Bahrain have enjoyed steady development. The two countries have developed their cooperation in fields including economy, trade, education and culture.

China is Bahrain's third-largest trading partner and largest source of imports. In recent years, Chinese companies have actively invested in projects in Bahrain's energy, housing, communications and manufacturing sectors and helped boost local economic and social development.

Bahrain is an important member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and a good friend and partner of China in the region. It has actively promoted cooperation between China and the GCC and their bilateral free trade agreement negotiation.

In July 2018, China and Bahrain signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative. In October 2023, China and Bahrain signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of tourism.

In honor of the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties, "Chart of the Day" takes a deep dive into the fruitful achievements between China and Bahrain.
