April 18 is International Day for Monuments and Sites. The day was established in 1982 by the International Council on Monuments and Sites and adopted by UNESCO, with focus on assessing the current needs for heritage conservation. CGTN's Xia Cheng interviewed Shahbaz Khan, director of the UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office for East Asia (UNESCO Beijing), who welcomed China's efforts to protect its heritage sites and promote dialogue among different civilizations.
