In China's long history of peony culture, the peony has been given the spiritual connotation of wealth, auspiciousness and prosperity. Guyu, or Grain Rain, marks a significant period in the traditional Chinese calendar. As the sixth of the 24 Solar Terms, Guyu usually falls around April 20 and lasts until the beginning of May.
