A Yangtze finless porpoise plays with its baby in the Yichang, Xiling section of the Yangtze River. The porpoise is a small freshwater whale endemic to China and is distributed in the Yangtze River basin. There are only about 1,000 of the state-protected species. In recent years, the environment of the Yangtze has improved significantly, providing the conditions for the finless porpoise to rest and breed.
