A total of 656 diplomats and their families from 59 countries and regions around the world participated in a movie event in Beijing's Liangmaqiao Diplomatic Residence Compound from Saturday to Sunday.
Dubbed the "Diplomat Filmfest," the event aims to establish a platform for diplomats to promote closer international cooperation through appreciating films.
"The Diplomat Filmfest seeks to not only celebrate the art of cinema but also serve as a catalyst for cultural exchange and collaboration on a global scale," said Guan Hong, deputy general manager of China Intercontinental Communication Center, one of the organizers of the event. "It's truly a pleasure to see such a distinguished gathering here today."
The organizers showcased a collection of videos about China's overseas aid projects and international cooperation initiatives, along with animation movies Boonie Bears: Time Twist and Chang An.
Usui Masato, the cultural envoy in the Embassy of Japan in China, said he watches three to four Chinese movies every month since he came to China last September, adding that movies enable people from different backgrounds to understand each other's lifestyles.
This event is a part of the 14th Beijing International Film Festival.
