The United Kingdom will lift defense spending to 2.5 percent of the GDP to 87 billion pounds (about $108 billion) a year by 2030, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced during a visit to Poland on Tuesday.
"Today, I'm announcing the biggest strengthening of national defense for a generation," Sunak said.
The announcement followed Sunak's pledge to increase Britain's military support for Ukraine by 500 million pounds to take its total for this financial year 3 billion pounds.
