Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, on Monday visited the Minzhu Village Community in Jiulongpo District, southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, to learn about the efforts aimed at urban renewal and the improvement of people's livelihood.
Minzhu Village Community was built between the 1950s and 1990s as a supporting residential area for the former state-owned Construction Machine Tool Factory. In early 2022, the community launched an urban renewal project to preserve the historical imprint of the community while improving its functions from the perspective of livability. Additionally, plans were made to construct functional service areas and bustling commercial districts. In April 2023, the first phase of the Minzhu Village Community Renewal Project was completed, transforming the community's environment.
