Kees Van Oostrum from the Netherlands is a renowned cinematographer and director who has a portfolio of 80 credits, including Emmy award-winning movies made for television, cinema and documentaries.

As a jury member for the Forward Future section of the 14th Beijing International Film Festival, he shared his approach to evaluating films, which is to experience a film like a regular viewer, immersing in the narrative and performances. He said he finds the innovative storytelling techniques and cinematography of emerging directors very refreshing.
