On April 20, a delegation of scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) held an academic seminar on the theme of Chinese modernization and its global significance at the National Center for Advanced Studies of Peru. Song Yang, the Chinese ambassador to Peru, attended and delivered a congratulatory speech.

More than 300 Peruvian government officials, businessmen and representatives of think tanks participated in the seminar.

Beas Aranda, director of the National Center for Higher Studies of Peru, spoke highly of the seminar, saying that it was a milestone in academic exchanges between Peru and China.

Participants said that Chinese scholars elaborated on the connotation, main features and bright prospects of Chinese modernization, as well as China's basic experience in promoting new-type industrialization and ecological civilization construction, and in eradicating poverty and promoting global development initiatives, which are valuable experiences of great reference significance for the economic and social development of Peru and other Latin American countries.

Participants were of the view that Chinese modernization not only benefits the Chinese people but also provides new opportunities for the world. Therefore, Peruvian academics will strengthen exchanges with their Chinese counterparts and intensify their research on China's development model and experience.

Jointly organized by the Secretariat of the Council of National High-End Think Tanks of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the National Center for Advanced Studies of Peru, the seminar is also the third activity of the "China-Latin America Modernization and Mutual Appreciation."

The scholars have held presentations on the same topic in Chile and Brazil and also participated in the seminar on the "50th Anniversary of China-Brazil Diplomatic Relations: Joining Hands to Build a Sustainable World."

More than 1,000 people from think tanks, universities, politics and business circles of the three countries attended the seminars. The participants highly appreciated the great achievements of Chinese modernization, expressed their deepening understanding of China through the presentation, and hoped to strengthen cooperation with China in the future and promote the building of a China-Latin America community of shared future.
