CGTN

The "China Image" screening, jointly hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), was launched in Belgrade on April 25. A dozen CMG-produced films and TV shows will be broadcast on RTS, revealing the vitality of China in the new era and telling stories of China-Serbia friendship to the local audience.

Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of CMG, Vladan Vukosavljević, former minister of culture and information of Serbia, and Li Ming, the Chinese ambassador to Serbia, delivered their video speeches.

"Chinese President Xi Jinping once called Serbia an 'ironclad friend' of China," Shen said. "The 'Chinese fever' continues to soar in Serbia, making more and more Serbian people understand and fall in love with outstanding Chinese films and TV shows. Images form a universal language that transcends language barriers. CMG introduces some of its documentary masterpieces to the Serbian audience in the hope of rejuvenating the cultural memories for the people of the two countries. Further exchange and cooperation are expected between CMG and all walks of life in Serbia, so that the firm friendship between China and Serbia endures and blooms in the new era."

Vukosavljević believes that the screening provides a brand-new platform for the Serbian audience to deeply understand China's achievements in various fields, especially in economic and cultural cooperation. He added that it offers a wonderful perception of China. "This event is an important part of cultural exchange between the two countries. Through the vivid and intimate motion pictures, one can recall the past, discuss the present and look forward to the future. These selected works will be deeply welcomed by the Serbian audience and will enrich the bilateral cooperation," Vukosavljević noted.

Li said that, despite being on different continents, the China-Serbia friendship dates back a very long time. With the in-depth exchange and cooperation in the humanities in recent years, the understanding and love of each other's culture have intensified, he said, adding that the screening will become a new bridge connecting the two peoples.

He stated that he looks forward to deepening cooperation between CMG and more Serbian media, such as RTS, to record more lively stories that touch the hearts of the two peoples.

During the screening event, "In Search of Walter," "Qinling Train No. 6063," "Human Carbon Footprint," "Miracles of Sand and Sea: Dunhuang and Venice," "Aerial China: Xinjiang," "Heartstrings" and other CMG products will be broadcast on RTS in prime time until early May.
