The Fukushima fishing industry was hit hard by the 2011 east Japan earthquake, and it has gradually recovered after over a decade. But according to local residents, the decision to discharge nuclear-contaminated water into the sea added to the troubles of the struggling fishing industry, not only affecting catch volumes, but also causing it reputational damage.
