Chinese Foreign Ministry official: 'Overcapacity' claim just U.S. anxiety

00:44

The U.S.'s "overcapacity" narrative against China is another manifestation of its attempt to suppress China's development, said an official with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, adding that it is not China's production capacity, but rather the anxiety shown by the United States that is excessive.

The so-called "Chinese overcapacity" claim is a false narrative fabricated by the United States, said Yang Tao, director-general of the ministry's Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs, at a press conference in Beijing on April 27.
