It happens every spring – thousands of migrating birds hover over the wetland at the estuary of the Yalu River, bordering on China and the DPRK. At high tide, flocks of waterfowl can be seen clearly from the shoal of the river.
The wetland is known as one of the country's best-preserved littoral wetland reserves that accommodates more than one million birds for overwintering, migration and inhabitation every year.
International ornithologists who have traced the migrating birds arriving in the Yalu River area have found that many birds migrate from countries like Australia and New Zealand.
