Hubei Province in central China boasts not only spectacular natural landscapes but also several amazing local specialties. Among these is an indigenous herbal beverage referred to as vine "tea". The beverage, particularly in its purple form, captured much public attention at the just-concluded 16th Beijing International Tea and Tea Ceremony Exhibition. Farmers of the Tujia ethnic group, who grow the crop as their pillar industry, say that although it's called vine tea, it's not tea at all, but a member of the Vitaceae family!
