The last solar term of spring on the Chinese lunar calendar is called Guyu. In Chinese, "Gu" means grain, and "Yu" means rain. During this time, rainfall increases and seedlings grow. Farmers believe that sufficient rainwater makes the grain crops thrive, reflecting the connection between agriculture and the 24 solar terms. People carry out traditions such as flower tours, sea worship, tea picking and eating fresh vegetables at this time of year. Some ancient Chinese books mention three phenomena you can witness during this period: the growth of duckweed, active birds and hoopoes on the mulberry tree.
